Abu Mahjoob

This cartoon is created by Emad Hajjaj of the Abu Mahjoob Creative Productions. Hajjaj's cartoons appear in a variety of mainstream newspaper.

The cartoon depicts Israeli state officials Ehud Olmert, Tzipi Livni and Ehud Barak as Nazis. The quote reads "Israel has the Reich to defends itself," substituting Reich for right in order to further portray the Jews as Nazis.

This offensive cartoon was made in response to Israel's Operation Cast Lead in Gaza, which was a response to years of rocket fire, during which Israel was bombarded thousands of times.

In the worldview of Hajjaj, Israel has no right to defend itself against violent aggression and if it does so it acts like the Nazis.

Cartoons equating Israel and Nazi Germany are common in Arab media, which sees the comparison as a good means to attempt to delegitimize Israel.
