Jewish-American actress Gertrude Berg passed away. Berg gained fame playing Jewish housewife Molly Goldberg, first on radio (from 1929) and then on television (1949 through 1955). “The Goldbergs”, a pioneer of the television sitcom, brought American viewers into a Jewish family’s living room, gaining huge popularity while making a point of their ethnicity.
