Reinhard Heydrich holds a conference in Berlin on the question of dealing with the Jews in newly captured Poland.
A summary of the conference is sent out to all Nazi Einsatzgruppen, instructing them to round up the Jews into ghettos. They are also told to form Judenräte, conduct a census, and take over Jewish businesses and property. In 1942, Heydrich will hold another conference in Berlin on how to deal with the Jews. The Wannsee Conference will set the Final Solution in motion.
A translation of the 1939 conference summary and instructions can be seen here: http://www1.yadvashem.org/about_holocaust/documents/part2/doc73.html |
