Under Franco’s regime, the Spanish government refuses to protect Spanish Jews who reside in Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. The government announces that it would allow these Jewish citizens to return only if some of those Jews already in the country left. Nonetheless, Franco stalled Hitler's demands that he transport Spain's Jews to the death camps in Eastern Europe, claiming a lack of rail cars. |
