This video is of retired Wellesley College Professor Tony Martin discussing his 1993 book The Jewish Onslaught: Dispatches from the Wellesley Battlefront.
He opens his speech by reading a laundry list of charges of Jews being intimately and disproportionably involved in the slave trade.
In 1995, however, the American Historical Association issued a statement condemning the accuracy of Martin’s allegations:
“The AHA deplores any misuse of history that distorts the historical record to demonize or demean a particular racial, ethnic, or cultural group. The Association therefore condemns as false any statement alleging that Jews played a disproportionate role in the exploitation of slave labor or in the Atlantic slave trade.”
While some Jews were involved in the slave trade, so were members of other groups. In line with other anti-Semites, Professor Martin singles out Jews for doing something others did.
